Alila Villas Soori

Alila Villas Soori is a 48-room resort with a quiet location in the western part of Bali, around an hour north of Seminyak. Alila has a great collection of design hotels and this Alila property is a member of Design Hotels as well. It was furthermore included in Condé Nast Traveller’s Hot List in 2011 as one of the best new hotels in the world.

My experience with the property started with a pick up at Hotel Tugu Bali and after 45 minutes I arrived to a warm welcome. I received a drink, introduction to the resort and was right after escorted to the villa for in-villa check in. I stayed in a One Bedroom Pool Villa with two flatscreen Tv’s, one of them had a media box with complimentary movies which was a nice detail. The villa also had private swimming pool, specially designed bathtub, large rainshower, products especially made for Alila and beautiful sea views. The only negative note about the room was that I personally would have preferred a more soft bed as the bed was a little hard.

Alila may be a small property, but has 5 well-deserved stars due to excellent facilities. That combined with many daily activities means you won’t be bored, even if you book a few weeks here. I had the chance to try their lovely spa and it was up to a high standard, not only in the actual treatment, but also in the entire experience. Warm welcome with a drink and towel before and after the massage. The location on Balis southwest coast is remote and you won’t feel Balis mass-tourism if you decide to stay here which is a big plus. The beach is really nice and there isn’t much to complain about at Alila Villas Soori.
The service is always the most important thing and Alila didn’t disappoint. The service is great and staff are better and more professional here than in many properties in Bali. 48 rooms total and 207 staff is an impressive ratio, even for Bal

The biggest surprise was the food. Alila has invested in an excellent chef which made the most amazing risotto to perfection. The food was on Michelin level and although pricey for Bali actually good value when you compare it to a Michelin recommended-restaurant in other countries.

The stay ended with a great breakfast and I really enjoyed Alila Villas Soori. It may not be a unique experience in the sense I have experienced it all before, but they deliver on a very high level and could easily be included in any lists of the world’s best properties.

My opinion: Great+ experience.
