Baraza Resort & Spa is one of the most expensive resorts in Zanzibar and it’s excellent reviews and inclusion in the Kiwi Collection made it an easy decision to include it in the project. Baraza Resort & Spa only has 30 rooms and I stayed in their best one. The Presidential Suite. 254 square metres with two bedrooms. It has a very nice bathroom with freestanding bathtub. A central living room with beautiful sea views and finally a large private plunge pool. A big minus for the fact that wifi is charged which you hardly see in any independent hotels or smaller collection these days. The service exceeded my expectations. Zanzibar is a very undeveloped place, but the service standards was very high. Six staffs greeted me on arrival where a drink and towel was offered. The room had great welcome amenties and a welcome card. The attention to detail was great and the staffs was a good mix of foreigners and locals. The staff had a nice and friendly attitude, but was also more trained than I expected. Baraza is not part of any marketing organization, but is part of the trustful Kiwi Collection and their own Zanzibar Collection. I had site inspection in their two other hotels and I based on the design I definitely prefer Baraza. The food was another great experience, great a-la carte restaurant and impressive service. Overall a really great experience for even the most discerning travelers. A top choice in Zanzibar. Hard to decide between Essque Zalu and Baraza, both is world class.
