Divan Erbil

Divan Erbil is the most expensive hotel in Iraq and a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. I stayed two nights in this hotel and I’m happy to confirm Iraq has world class hotels.

The hotel has more than 43,000 sq metres of landscaped groups and is just 10 minutes from Erbil International Airport and the city centre or Erbil. Divan has a great collection of hotels, mainly in Turkey, but this property was the first I got to experience myself. It started with a pick up in the airport and after a 10 minutes ride I arrived in the hotel early morning. I was escorted to the room right away. I stayed in a beautiful appointed Deluxe Room. It was very much like a Ritz-Carlton or Kempinski room and with great Molton Brown products in the bathroom which only had a shower. The bed was very comfortable, but the internet unfortunately wasn’t complimentary.

This brand new hotel has 227 rooms total, however not all facilities are yet operational. The first Tripadvisor reviews dosen’t do this hotel justice. It’s very much like a Ritz-Carlton or Kempinski hotel and like most other places in the Middle East it’s mainly foreigners working here. They did a great job with professional service and everything worked very well.

Overall a great business hotel in this safe part of Iraq. I can highly recommend both Erbil and this hotel as the place to stay.

My opinion: Great experience.
