Gili Lankanfushi is one of the smallest 5 star resorts in The Maldives. Only 45 rooms total which all are water villas in 5 different categories. Gili Lankanfushi picked me up from Paradise Island is located less than 10 minutes away. The location is fantastic for people arriving in The Maldives for the first time. Only 15 minutes by speedboat from Malé International Airport in a comfortable boat with friendly, professional staff which gave me a great first impression of the resort. The experience is completely difference here. Paradise Island has great water villas and a beautiful beach, but the experience ends there. Gili Lankanfushi has the number one spot on Tripadvisor in the entire Maldives and is definitely one of the best experiences I have had. It started with a warm welcome, short introduction to the island before arriving at the amazing Water Villa and in-villa check in. The chef had prepared a welcome amenities together with a fruit basket, ice tea and a bottle of champagne. The butler (called Mr. Friday) at Gili Lankanfushi takes care of 5-6 rooms and while it isn’t a personal butler, he was attentive throughout the stay and impressed me.
I stayed in a standard Water Villa which was one of the best I’ve stayed in The Maldives. A large open air living room are a lovely introduction to the room before moving towards the bedroom. The bedroom had very comfortable bed, sitting area and a flatscreen Tv. The bathroom had lovely organic products, bathtub, outdoor shower and a private snorkeling area as the only one in The Maldives as far as I’m aware. There are many reasons why the Gili Lankanfushi experience is one of the best in The Maldives. The attention to detail, the extraordinary personalized service and the villas itself. Having only 45 rooms really makes a difference, but they furthermore have over 300 staff making it one of the most impressive room/staff ratios in The Maldives.
Food is always very important when you stay on a private island with no local restaurants around to try. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Gili Lankanfushi and they got the food just right. The Canadian chef has done a great job with high quality ingredients in all buffets. Only Soneva Fushi and partly Four Seasons and Medhufushi would be able to compare their buffets with Gili Lankanfushi.
I wish I could have stayed longer than my 22 hours at Gili Lankanfushi, but I was impressed with all departments. My stay ended with a wonderful spa treatment and a farewell from the management. Gili Lankanfushi knows how to to great care of a guest and there is definitely a reason for their number one spot on Tripadvisor.
My opinion: Fantastic experience.
