Hogmead

Finding the best place to stay in Nairobi can be a challenge. Hogmead has the highest rates and excellent reviews as a quiet place just outside Nairobi and close to the Karen Blixen Museum.

I arrived in the afternoon and the general manager Jay greeted me and offered a beer before escorted me to the room.

I stayed in a Mount Kenya Room. It had an outdoor sitting area, flatscreen Tv, comfortable bed and finally separate shower from the freestanding bathtub. Very comfortable and homely feel to the room which was less than 10 steps from the lobby.

It has a Relais&Chateaux feel to it and could probably be a member if the food get’s improved. It was a very good dinner, but of course not quite up to the standards of the Relais&Chateaux hotels I’ve stayed in Europe. The ingredients is good and it’s no coincidence the nearby countries import meat from Kenya as the quality is very good.

The service exceeded my expectations. It is very personalized with attention to details. They are very friendly and kind and makes a huge difference. With only 6 rooms I did expect personalized service, but you can never know how it’s going to feel. The unique thing about Hogmead which I will remember the most are the giraffes which you even can see from your room.

Overall very satisfied with this place and surely a place I would recommend everyone to stay. It’s very quiet and with great personalized service.

My opinion: Great experience
