I arrived in the afternoon and received a warm welcome before receiving my card. As in most city hotel I wasn’t escorted to the room, but the elavator was right next to the reception and I was on my way to the room.
I stayed in a beautiful contemporary Deluxe Room. It had a very comfortable and soft bed, separate sitting area like in most junior suite and a working desk for the business travelers. The bathroom had separate shower from the bathtub, Molton Brown products and a great feel to it. The only thing missing was a phone next to the bed which is a must and standard in almost every hotel I’ve stayed. The internet is complimentary, but wasn’t very fast in the room. It’s much faster in the lobby or as they call it “The Living Room”.
Hotel Continental Oslo has 155 rooms total which makes them one of the smaller city hotels in The Leading Hotels of the World portfolio. I think the staff and service was a little better than in Grand Hotel, but Grand Hotel instead had better facilities and a lovely classical feel to it. Hotel Continental has smaller meeting facilities and a gym, but not a fantastic spa like Grand.
Overall a great experience that exceeded my expectations. The service level in Scandinavia is far from the best, but Hotel Continental is as good as it gets in Norway. Comfortable room, excellent location and a hotel that works combined with great value as Norway is generally very expensive.
My opinion: Great Experience.
