Intercontinental is the top brand of IHG, and they have some nice properties around the world. One of them is Intercontinental Mauritius. As standard in resorts, I was offered a welcome drink and cold towel at check in. The unusual thing is that you pay for your stay when you check in. It was the first time I’ve seen that. In every other hotel, you pay for your stay upon check out. After the payment, I was escorted to my room. The room was a special experience for me. It was a 300 square metres Presidential Suite. It was unique. It had two levels with the huge living room in the lower level and bedroom in the upper level. Furthermore, it had three huge outdoor areas, and one of them had a huge jacuzzi. Very special suite indeed.
The dinner was a great experience; Chef Junious Dickerson made a tasting menu, and it was comparable to the best hotel restaurants I’ve been. The service was nothing special in either the restaurant or in the hotel in general, but acceptable for an InterContinental. Overall it’s a great value choice to try a presidential suite, and the food is lovely, but it’s not one of the very best hotels in the world.
My opinion: Good+ experience.
