Ka’ana Boutique Resort & Spa is a small 17-room hotel and Belize’s only member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Located just outside San Ignacio, close to the Guatemalan border and a different hotel experience than it’s competitors in the area. The Lodge at Chaa Creek and Blancaneaux Lodge are more unique, while Ka’ana Boutique is an experience I’ve had many times in the past.
I have seen the design many times before and it could easily feel like you’re in Bali instead of Belize. It’s also the only of my San Ignacio with Tv’s in the room. Nothing wrong with that at all and it all depends what you are looking for. My Casita Suite also had a lovely outdoor shower which is seen in many Asian resorts, but always enjoyable to experience. Complimentary high speed internet worked very well in the room as well as in the public areas of the resort.
The most important thing is always the service and Ka’ana impressed me. Professional service and great staff in all departments. Belize is the only English speaking country in Central America and it makes a difference compared to hotels in Guatemala where only a few would speak English. The food was very good and the service in the restaurant very friendly and personalized. As you can see in my photos I had a Belizean breakfast which I can recommend to try as it’s unlike any other breakfast I’ve had.
Overall a lovely resort in Belize and definitely worth it’s membershipf of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. If I ever go back to San Ignacio I will definitely stay here again and combine it with Blancaneaux Lodge as they are both truly great, but in different ways.
My opinion: Great experience.
