Ketapang Estate Bali

Ketapang Estate is the 4th smallest member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, remotely located close to the town of Tabanan and with only 7 villas, you can count on a very personalized experience.

If you want to stay at this exclusive resort, you will have to book the entire estate which I believe is the only one in the SLH-collection. As the resort wasn’t booked I managed to stay here for a night which all started with an impressive welcome where most of the staff was out to greet me. I was given a welcome drink and cold towel before being escorted to the room.

I stayed in Villa Pantai which was one of the better villas at the resort. It had it’s own private jacuzzi and was only 15 metres from the hotels 300 meters black sand beach. The bathroom had natural local products and a freestanding bathtub and rainshower. There was no welcome amenities in the room and the minibar was chargeable which would be one thing to improve. Another thing to improve would be the internet, it’s very slow and didn’t work for the last 4 hours of my stay which was a big problem for me. It happens often and is something to be aware of if internet is important for you while in Bali.

Although Ketapang is very small, the staff are always attentive and there to help with everything. It is a very intimate experience with great level of personalized service. That is what I love about the place and  the very quiet location where you will forget that Bali is a mass tourism destination. Although they have impressive facilities such as a private cinema, I consider it a must to invest in a great spa. They offer spa treatments, but the set up for it is bad and the therapist wasn’t very good, especially not compared with the other resorts in Bali. Another thing is that food is average for Bali and more focus on a better breakfast should be a priority.

Overall I loved my stay, it’s not a perfect experience, but it the experience is unique and with a high quality of personalized service and that is why I would go back if I get the chance.

My opinion: Great+ experience.
