La Reunión Golf Resort & Residences is a member of Condé Nast Johansens and is the most expensive hotel in the area of Antigua. With rates starting at 330 dollars I had high expectations and after my stay I am happy to conclude they were all exceeded.
Located in a quiet location, 11 miles from Antigua, La Reunión Golf Resort & Residences has 26 rooms which all are suites. Beautiful designed, Molton Brown amenities in the bathroom and a comfortable bed. As you can see in my photos below it’s really impressive and absolutely world class. The complimentary internet is high speed and my suite also featured a private swimming pool with beautiful views.
Food is very important for La Reunión Golf Resort & Residences and their head chef has just recently returned from Noma, a 2 star Michelin restaurant in Copenhagen. The dinner was truly great and the breakfast one of the bests I’ve had in my travels with a great ala-carte menu and high quality of ingredients. The design in the lobby and restaurant is a bit similar to Aman Resorts and truly lovely to experience in this part of the world.
I was the only guest staying here during my one night stay and it surely makes a difference for the service. It was of course very personalized and it was all about me. I was told that weekdays often is quiet so it might be worth to plan your visit after this as the weekends are much more busy. The staff had a very friendly attitude and most a very good English level. La Reunión felt a lot like a St. Regis or Four Seasons and the management are very experienced and know how to run a hotel.
Overall a truly great and surprising experience. Guatemala has a real world class hotel and it will be hard not to love La Reunión for even the most discerning travelers.
My opinion: Great+ experience.
