Lapa Rios Ecolodge is located on 1,000 acres rain forest and is the perfect place to relax and have a truly eco friendly experience with no internet or Tv’s, just wildlife. The lodge is managed by Cayuga Collection and has been included in the past years Gold List of Condé Nast as one of the best places to stay in the world. The 16 bungalow units are without A/C, telephone and does not look like your usual hotel room. Instead it’s a great place to relax and enjoy eco friendly design.
Lapa Rios rates starts as $760 for 2 persons including all meals, transfers and guided tours. The open air restaurant serves the meals and the food was overall good with local ingredients, but far from the level of Four Seasons Costa Rica as a comparison. The entire staff are Costa Ricans and with only 16 rooms Lapa Rios made a personalized experience compared to Four Seasons 150 rooms and with a more corporate and standardized feel. The staff were very friendly and most spoke a good English which is very important as most guests here are Americans.
Overall a very pleasant eco lodge experience to the portfolio. It’s definitely not cheap, but if you want to have a truly personalized eco lodge experience, this is the place.
My opinion: Great experience.
