LUX* is a newer brand which has re-branded some high quality resorts in The Indian Ocean. LUX* Maldives used to be known as Diva and is a member of Kiwi Collection, has 193 rooms ard are located on the Dhidhoofinolhu Island in the Ari Atoll.
The Dhidhoofinolhu Island is one of the biggest in The Maldives and for me that was the problem. It takes long time getting from your room to the restaurant, spa or any other places of interest. They have a buggy shuttle that runs all the time, but you have to sit and wait a the stops for up to 15 minutes which for me meant I didn’t felt like a special guests. Some people probably don’t care, but some will find it uncomfortable.
My experience with LUX* Maldives started at their seaplane lounge which is one of the bests in The Maldives. After a 30 minutes flight I arrived in paradise to a warm welcome from the staff. I was offered a drink, a cold towel and no matter how many times you have tried such an arrival, it always feels great. I was right after escortede to the room and I was excited to see how good it could be. I stayed in a Prestige Over Water Villa which was wonderful and large. Comfortable bed, flatscreen Tv, rainshower and a large bathtub was the highlights. I really liked the products in the bathroom which was quite natural and not tested on animals. The internet was fast for The Maldives and available free of charge.
A unique feature of LUX* Maldives is the phone booth where you can call landline in most Western countries for free. It’s a very nice feature and truly lovely to be able to call your family at home and tell them you have an amazing time in paradise. The service at LUX* is overall great. The resort is well-run in all areas with great management which I had a chance to meet over dinner. The food at LUX* is high quality, especially the seafood and I would rank it among the better dining experiences I’ve had in The Maldives.
To sum up LUX* Maldives delivers high value for money, especially in the summer season. The resort is very well-managed and the only problem could be the size of the island and the number of rooms. Everything else impressed me and I would love to go back someday.
My opinion: Great+ experience.
