Mandarin Oriental is one of the most prestigious hotel brands in the world, so every time you arrive in one of their hotels, you will have high expectations.
I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world already and had extremely high expectations for this property. The reviews were some of the best I’ve read and the photos some of the best I’ve seen so it would be impossible to have higher expectations.
The hotel gave me a very friendly welcome with a cold towel and a drink. After that, I was escorted to my villa. I stayed in a Grand Deluxe Villa with Plunge Pool, and it was awesome. 200 square metres of pure luxury and an incredible view of the rice paddy fields. The villa had a plunge pool with jacuzzi, a steam shower, a piano and a jacuzzi upstairs. The only disappointing thing was the fact that there was no flat screen Tv’s, but they told me it’s because they want their villas to look classic, but in my opinion, it’s a must to have flatscreen Tvs. The food is top class. Breakfast, lunch and dinner everything tasted extremely good. The breakfast buffet could have a little more to offer, and the service could be a bit better, but overall extremely satisfied.
Everything was top class even the service. I started by saying this hotel isn’t the best in the world. Well, it’s not, because while everything is top class the service is far from the level I’ve experienced in hotels like Burj Al Arab and the top resorts in Bali. I believe this is the point where this property must improve. The professionalism of service. They are training, and it’s the best service I’ve experienced in a Thailand resort, but it’s not magical service as the very best in the world. Keep that in mind. When I went to the library, they got upset because I forgot to take my shoes off, well nobody had told me about it, so I found that very strange to be happening in world class hotel. Beside from that detail the generally level of service everywhere in the hotel is great, but again you always compare it with the best to give your rating and in my opinion this hotel does not belong among the very best, but still in a top200 list of the best in the world, though.
The facilities and activities are top class, and nobody will be bored at any time in this hotel, there is always a lot to do and for the price, this is excellent value and a true 10/10 rating from me. Memorable experience.
My opinion: Fantastic experience.
