Medhufushi is ranked as a 5-star resort in The Maldives and based on my research I arrived with the seaplane full of expectations. Every island in The Maldives is beautiful, but the arrival at Medhufushi was perhaps the most beautiful. That made the arrival experience extra special and the staff was very welcoming and I was offered a drink and cold towel before being escorte to the room.
I stayed in a Beach Villa which was up to a good standard, but not comparable with the other AAA Resort, Zitahli where I stayed in December 2010. The open air bathroom was very nice with an outdoor shower, but the room itself was very small compared to other Maldivian resorts. The bed was comfortable, but the internet was sadly chargeable which I have explained many times in the past doesn’t make any sense.
As explained earlier the island is incredibly beautiful and the beaches are no exception. I absolutely loved the beach here and it’s located just a few steps from the beach villas. The beach was however not the only positive surprise. The food was an even bigger surprise. A truly great buffet with high quality of ingredients and great open air stations to make your food just the way you like it. Medhufushi delivered one of the three best dining experiences I have had in The Maldives and that is really impressive as the other resorts charges a lot more than Medhufushi. Where you can really see the rate difference come to mind between Medhufushi and the vest bests is in the service. The service in Medhufushi is good, but not extraordinary which you of course can’t expect for the price. I think Medhufushi offers great value for money due to excellent food and beach.
The buttom line is that Medhufushi for me is a winner in it’s price category. I have had many bad meals in The Maldives and I would love to return to Medhufushi as I can count on high quality food which for me is an important part of a resort experience.
My opinion: Great experience.
