At Pimalai, rekindle your love for nature amidst lush tropical forests and the endless Andaman waters. Discover Koh Lanta’s best kept secret, nestled within the solitude and serenity of surrounding mountains.
The name “Pimalai” is derived from ancient Sanskrit, meaning, “a little patch of Heaven”. True to its name, Pimalai brings you the perfect combination of nature and luxury, but one of a different kind – the luxury of being in a unique and exclusive environment, without the fuss that comes with it; the luxury of experiencing an out of the beaten track destination, and the luxury of being pampered by friendly island natives who not only perform their duties, but give you that little extra something that makes all the difference.

Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.
My arrival experience: Warm welcome. Picked up from the pier and the car arrived at my villa for in-villa check in.
What I loved: The villas and quiet location.
What about the food: Good Thai food for dinner. I especially enjoyed the local Tom Yum Goong Prawn soup. The breakfast had a nice selection of food, but lacked high quality of ingredients like many resorts in Asia.
What about the service: Very kind service from the smiling staff. Good attention to details and nice welcome amenities (cookies and exotic fruits.). Some details could be better like missing bathsalt in the bathroom. The mini-bar is chargeable, but they do provide 10 bottles of complimentary cold local water.
What about the rooms: I stayed in one of their pool villas with private swimming pool, comfortable bed, relatively good Wi-Fi, separate rainshower and a bathtub. Beautiful views and special feel to it.
Number of rooms: 121.
Type of property: Resort.
Location: Koh Lanta, Thailand.
Facilities: Spa, swimming pool and gym.
Complimentary internet: Yes, some connection problems at time, but relatively fast for a resort.
Affiliations: Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
My overall impression: Great+ experience. I loved it. Pimalai does a great job with beautiful villas and kind service. Well-managed and run professionally. There are details that could be better, but overall a lovely experience with excellent value for money, especially in the summer.
