Regent Bali opened in June this year after long delays and based on my experience at the new Regent in Phuket back in March, I arrived at Regent with very high expectations.
I was picked up at the airport and glad to see wifi in the car as Regent in Phuket had. It’s truly great to be able to connect after a long flight and an important detail other hotels should implement. The arrival experience was very nice with several staff to welcome me. I was given a drink, a cold towel and right after escorted to the room.
I stayed in a Deluxe Suite which was really lovely and reminded me of The Chedi in Chiang Mai, a hotel I really love. The suite had a beautiful, contemporary bathroom with freestanding bathtub and L’Occitane products which is Four Seasons standard product. Although Regent works together with Four Seasons, it’s still two different brands and this Regent didn’t have Four Seasons soft beds I really love and that would be a thing to improve. The suite had complimentary high speed internet access, working desk and unlike Four Seasons a complimentary minibar which was a nice touch. The service at Regent can still be better, it’s a new resorts and it’s a process to get it right. The staff are lovely, but more training is needed for some to become truly great.
The resort is located in Sanur where there isn’t many other great hotels. The beach is just a few steps from the resort and shared with the public. It’s quite good, but not as good as Jimbaran Puri which might have the best one in Bali.
I didn’t have dinner at Regent, but a great breakfast with a large selection of food and ala carte menu. I overall rank Regent as a truly great experience, but there are so many choices in Bali and it all depends what you look for. A fantastic new room category, but with lack of privacy compared to large pool villas and service with potential to become great.
