Settha Palace Hotel

Going to the capital of Laos you don’t have many choices of a luxury hotel. Based on internet research Settha Palace Hotel was the best hotel to stay, but I was also told to keep my expectations low. I arrived at the airport and was pick up in their classical car. After a short drive, I arrived in the classical hotel and was offered a welcome drink and cold towel in the lobby. After a short introduction to the hotel, I was escorted to the deluxe room which was nothing special, but with classical touches.

The service is always the most important thing in a hotel, and Settha Palace Hotel surely has some problems. The main problem is that it’s very difficult to find staff with great English skills. The hotel only has 26 rooms, but 80 staff and most of those have huge difficulties with English. Their intentions and smiles are good, but it’s a problem when you can’t communicate with them. The outdoor swimming pool is a great place to relax in the heat and is probably what I liked most about the hotel. The dinner was acceptable, while the breakfast was bad and must be improved immediately.

Overall the only place to stay in Vientiane and that is the reason why it’s part of my project. It’s far from the world’s best hotels, and it’s important to have low expectations when arriving at the hotel.

My opinion: Good experience.
