The hotel’s spacious lobby, luxurious rooms and suites, which offer a mix of traditional Thai style and modern comfort, and spacious balconies create a memorable “home away from home” experience.

Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.

My arrival experience: A little wait to check-in, but top professional service. A receptionist escorted me to the room.

What I loved: The service which is the best I’ve seen from Shangri-La so far.

What about the food: The breakfast buffet is extremely crowded as you would expect in a hotel with 802 rooms. Some of the buffet was very good, but I missed high quality imported food.

What about the service: Most staff are very professional and well-trained, but the receptionist that was escorting me to the room just left me there without offering a room orientation. A long wait to check-out, but this is a very big hotel, so it was the expected downside of staying at this hotel. The service is some of the best I’ve seen from Shangri-La, but the many rooms make you feel more like a room number than a guest. Nothing is personalized, but when you need service, it’s professional.

What about the rooms: Beautiful rooms and the second best I have seen from Shangri-La, just behind Lhasa. My standard room had comfortable bed, working desk, separate rain shower and a bathtub. The amenities found at most Shangri-La, including this one, makes showering an unpleasant experience. I hope they would change to L’Occitane like their property in Chengdu. I would recommend bringing your amenities, but you might of course have a different opinion about them than me. The rooms are a selling point at Shangri-La, but the main reason to stay would be the top professional service and great facilities in a hotel that works.
