Six Senses is a chain with 14 eco friendly resort in Asia and The Middle East. Based on my two experience in the past I arrived in Zighy Bay with high expectations. The resort is located close to the U.A.E. border and it’s actually much easier arriving in Dubai than Muscat as you don’t need an Oman stamp. I landed in Muscat and had a long journey before arriving late afternoon in the resort.
I received a very warm welcome, a drink and a towel before being escorted to the room. I stayed in a Pool Villa with the same excellent eco friendly design as the rest of the hotel. The outdoor swimming pool was a wow factor and the unique design made it an excellent villa to stay in.
The staff is mainly foreigners which is very normal in The Middle East. The South East Asian staff were all very kind. Some were very professional, but some could need some more training. The general service level met my expectations, but it has the potential to become extraordinary. 82 rooms is a bit too much as a resort for my preference, but it’s spread out and you don’t see that many guests.
The facilities of course included a Six Senses Spa. As impressive as the two previous I’ve seen. Six Senses is famous for their spas and while I didn’t have a treatment, I loved the facilities which included different kind of steams and saunas. Combined with great service, cold towels and drinks.
The internet was free, but the speed didn’t impress me, but keep in mind it’s a very remote location. The food was a very positive experience. Great ingredients all around. You can’t expect Michelin level food, but great ingredients and taste that met my expectations of a Six Senses resort.
Overall another very impressive Six Senses experience. I was very satisfied with the experience which definitely deserves to be mentioned in lists of the world’s best hotels. Happy to have it in my collection and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Dubai as it’s only 90 minutes away.
My opinion: Great+ experience.
