Sofitel has changed their properties over the past few years and excluded many properties which wasn’t up to the highest Sofitel standards. One of the remaning Sofitel hotels and part of the Legend collection is the Sofitel Palais Jamai in Fes. A historical hotel which was build in 1879 in the finest Moroccan style. Today, it has 133 rooms and although the property is quite tired, it’s still charming due to it’s rich history. I stayed in a Deluxe Room and it was tired like the rest of the hotel, but still very interesting. The best thing was the wonderful views of Fes which are among the best room views I’ve had.
The service is very good at the front desk while the limited English can be a problem in other departments. Their French fine dining restaurant was very good with kind service and the breakfast was up to a good standard as well. A fair balance between price and value. The facilities included 3 restaurants, a spa, a piano bar, and 5 meeting rooms for up to 200 people. A swimming pool and a tennis court.
To sum up, this is a still a charming property with incredible views, but after a renovation it will surely be a much better experience.
My opinion: Good+ experience.
