My experience in Taleon started with a quick check in before being escorted to the room. I stayed in their Deluxe Suite and it was very classical as the rest of the hotel. The suite was overall very good and with Hermes products in the bathroom, but the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The internet is chargeable and it’s hard for me to understand why a independent hotel would do that in 2011.
Taleon Imperial was once a palace for the Russian royal family and that can be seen in the design everywhere. The spa is modern though and was very nice. One thing I hated about the Taleon was their smoking policy where smoking is allowed in many areas including the lobby. Russia don’t have a smoking law so it’s like that in most hotels.
The most important thing in a hotel is the service and it was better than expected. Great staff, but not much attention to details. It was one of the first times I experiences a room without welcome amenities which in my opinion is a must. The food was another thing I didn’t like. Breakfast and lunch wasn’t very good, but there is a lot of great restaurants in St. Petersburg.
Overall a great experience to the portfolio. It wasn’t memorable, but it’s one of the most classical hotels I’ve seen and it’s surely deserves it’s Leading Hotels of the World status.
My opinion: Good+ experience.
