The Raj Palace Grand Heritage Hotel

The Raj Palace has been voted the best heritage hotel in the world by World Travel Awards, so I was very excited to see if it was worth the title.

I arrived with a car from Oberoi Rajvilas and was immediately impressed by the beautiful front building. The arrival experience included a drink before being escorted to my suite. The name of the suite is Golden Suite, and it was very different and special from any room I’ve stayed before. Gold design, but with modern touches as flatscreen Tv and DVD-player.

Raj Palace is also a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and with only 29 rooms I had expectations for the service. The staff was friendly, but the service was far from the world’s best hotels. A few staff were professional, but in general, the staff needs more training. If you have been to the world’s best hotels before it is important not to have too high expectations for the service. What makes Raj Palace special is the property itself which is owned by the royal family of Rajasthan. The facilities were good with a small gym and a swimming pool. The food was good and a little experience to have dinner at their restaurant.

Overall a great experience to the portfolio. The property is worth to check out for a different experience you can’t get elsewhere in the world.

My opinion: Great experience.
