The St. Regis hotel brand is Starwood premium brand and is growing fast all over the world. One of the newest properties is the 336-room St. Regis Doha which includes 70 suites. My experience started with a quick check in and talk with the Kenyan receptionist before being escorted to the room. I was told the butler would be waiting for me, but he wasn’t and only a few hours later he introduced himself. I stayed in a Deluxe Room which had a typical St. Regis design, comfortable bed, working desk, separate bathtub from the shower and Reméde products. 4 complimentary bottles of water and local amenities was a nice little touch. The internet was surprisingly complimentary which is seen in more and more St. Regis hotels.
The butler service works very well and all your request on the phone goes though the butler center. The facilities included impressive meeting facilities and a Reméde Spa. One thing to improve at The St. Regis Doha would be the attention to detail, the service can still be better and some staff need more training. The service in the restaurant at breakfast time was a little slow and at the buffet many plates was dirty. A bad last impression of the hotel, but mistakes can of course always happen and I only stayed one night. What I personally didn’t like about the hotel was their smoking policy where smoking is allowed in the lobby. This is normal in Doha, but Starwood has opened smoke free properties in places like South Korea and Russia so I had hoped they at least wouldn’t allow smoking in the lobby in Doha.
The bottom line is I am very impressed with St. Regis’ consistency. They create the same kind of hotel experience with the same feel all over the world. A high quality experience in big hotels that always are well-managed.
My opinion: Great experience.
