My experience started with a warm welcome at check in before being escorted to the room. Many city hotels won’t escort you to the room, but due to only 50 rooms this is a possibility at Altis Belem. I stayed in a Deluxe Room with a beautiful sea view as the highlight along with nice local welcome amenities. The bed was comfortable, the wifi complimentary and very fast. There was also a working desk which was a little odd with two chairs. The flatscreen Tv was freestanding, but there was no plug inn near the bed which in my opinion is a must.
The bathroom had a nice contemporary design, a free standing bathtub and a separate shower. A thing to improve would be the bathroom amenities as the were not a premium brand and didn’t feel nice. The service at Altis Belem is great and it’s well managed. This must also have something to do with the fact that Altis is a big chain with several hotels. Altis Belem is their most expensive, but their collection also includes two other 5 star hotels in Lisbon and some 4 stars. The facilities was really impressive and the spa facilities in particular. It also features a large swimming pool and it was really hard to fault Altis Belem on the facilities. The stay ended with a good breakfast which had a large selection of items, but some high quality items and an ala carte menu would make it great.
The botoom line is that it’s not extraordinary, but a great hotel that works and has a design like the ones you usually find in the Design Hotels-collection. As there are already some members of Design Hotels in Lisbon, Altis Belem is a member of Preferred Boutique which is very well deserved.
My opinion: Great experience.
