Avalon Hotel

Avalon is a member of Design Hotels and based on all my research I was very excited to see how good Gothenburgs best hotel could be.

There are 101 rooms total in Avalon and I stayed in a Deluxe Panorama Room which had a fantastic view of the streets of Gothenburg. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom had Bulgari amenities. Many rooms don’t have a bathtub, but mine did and a separate shower as well. The room also had a Bang&Olufsen Tv which was another impressive detail. Two complains about the room would be the noise level in the room and the fact that there wasn’t a phone next to the bed. All guests gets locally made chocolates and Swedish sparkeling water, Ramlösa, in the room upon arrival. Very nice service touch.

The service was in general great. Very helpful and friendly staff with a great attitude made a difference. Service for me isn’t about being as professional as possible, but about having a great attitude as you can always train staff to be more professional. We are not famous for having excellent service in Scandinavia, but Avalon is the best I’ve experienced so far in Sweden. Avalon is official a 4 star hotel and don’t have many facilities except a smaller rooftop swimming pool.

Overall a quite unique design experience combined with very good service from the kind staff. Definately exceeded my expectations in every way. Gothenburg has a world class design hotel experience with excellent value for money.

My opinion: Great experience.
