Domaine de Cháteauvieux

Domaine de Cháteauvieux is a member of prestigious Relais&Chateaux and is located 8 kilometres from downtown Geneva.

Many people have asked me how I select hotels and it’s all about recognition. Stars dosen’t matter. A lot of Hilton’s is 5 star, but 2 star in experience. It’s because of facilities and nothing else. Relais&Chateaux is a collection of the most uniquely hotel experiences in the world and that is what I’m looking for.

Domaine de Cháteauvieux is located 3 kilometres from the train station in Satigny and after a short drive I arrived to a warm welcome of the friendly receptionist. I am a member of Relais&Chateaux’s loyality club, 5C and I requested an upgrade to their Duplex Suite which is the only suite in their hotel. While I knew the chances would be low, I was delighted to see the upgrade was a reality. A very impressive suite in two levels. Livingroom in the ground level and two bedrooms in the upper level. Two Bang&Olufsen Tvs, a jacuzzi, nice Relais&Chateaux branded products in the bath room and a great cake and champagne as welcome amenity. The only think I didn’t like about it was the bed. It was the hardest I’ve ever slept in and it was difficult to fall a sleep.

As in most of Relais&Chateaux there isn’t many facilities. A 2 star michelin restaurant, a bar and wine cellar is the only thing, but do you need more for a great experience? The service was personalized, but not outstanding. Outstanding is probably the word I would use about the breakfast. It was one of the best I’ve ever had. High quality products and every bit tasted great. It hardly ever happens in any of the worlds best hotels.

Overall a great Relais&Chateaux to the portfolio. It’s a beautiful property with it’s own unique style and it’s an experience to remember.

My opinion: Great experience.
