Andorra is one of the smallest countries in the world, located between France and Spain in very beautiful surroundings. The ski resort Hotel Grau Roig is a member of Condé Nast Johansen and based on my experiences in the past with the brand I knew the property would be up to a high standard.
I took the public bus from Andorra Ville and arrived just outside the hotel. The friendly Portuguese recepionist escorted me to the room right after. I stayed in a Deluxe Suite which was absolute world class. Recently renovated with two Bang&Olufsen Tv, comfortable bed, uniquely designed sinks and a large jacuzzi tub. Beautiful views of the mountains, the biggest raining shower I’ve seen and the lovely Bulgari amenities were other impressive details.
Andorra is probably the country in the world with the mildest smoking law. There is basically no law at all. Smoking is even allowed in Supermarket and McDonalds. Only place in the world I’ve seen that and I was very worried about the hotel policy. The hotel has now forbidden smoking in the restaurant, but is still allowed in the rooms and public area. It didn’t smell any smoke, but I wish I had known about it in advance. I’m glad Andorra is working on a smoking law so it can be forbidden in public areas of the lovely hotel. Enough about that. The food was quite pricey, but very good, I especially liked the lasagne. The breakfast had a large selection of food and very kind service.
The resort also has a very impressive spa. Beautiful designed, great facilities and up to highest standards. Wonderful. The service level was better than expected, but not extraordinary. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but the service can be a little slow at times. Especially when having to wait a front desk when there is only one receptionist. I was overall delighted to have found Hotel Grau Roig. A masterpeice for design lovers and a truly great experience in the small country of Andorra.
My opinion: Great+ experience.
