I arrived in the afternoon and was picked up in the airport with my name on a sign. Because of trafic the drive to the hotel took 40 minutes, but the return tranfer only took 15 minutes. The arrival went very well. I was greeted by the Duty Manager and the check in process went very quick. As expected I wasn’t escorted to the room, but instead directed to the elevators.
I stayed in an Executive Room which was very similar to the room I stayed in InterContinental San Pedro Sula. Same comfortable bed, flatscreen Tv, chargeable internet and a shower in the bathtub. The design wans’t the same, but with many similarities. A big difference was the bathroom amenities. Tegucigalpa has Elemis products which were much better than products in San Pedro Sula. A small detail for some, a big difference for others.
The facilities was impressive. A great club lounge, three restaurants, meeting facilities and a gym. I had sushi dinner in their lobby lounge. The quality wasn’t impressive compared to the sushi I’ve had around the world, but the price was reasonable. The breakfast in the club lounge was very good with a good selection and attentive service. The service level was very similar to InterContinental in San Pedro Sula and with well-trained staff. On the negative side I was quite upset with the noise level in my room. Every weekend there are loud music in the lobby bar until 2 AM which can be a nightmare. Even on on the 8th floor where my room was located.
Overall a very similar experience to the InterContinental in San Pedro Sula. It felt like I was coming back to the hotel I just left. InterContinental is very good in creating the same experince around the world and if you have stayed in many InterContinental’s you won’t be disappointed with their property in the capital of Honduras.
