Introduction:Welcome to Kurumba Maldives. A Maldives island resort that offers more than just sun, sand and sea! A resort full of surprises, fun activities, lively entertainment and smiling faces that are sure to give your Maldives holiday so much more.
Above information is how the hotel presents itself on their website.
Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.
My Arrival Experience: Warm welcome from Judit and the team.
What I loved: The food as it was way above my expectations.
What About the Food: Let’s break it into two categories. My breakfast and dinner experience at Thila, the highest ranked restaurant in the Maldives on Tripadvisor, were both excellent and some of the best food I’ve had in this country. I am normally not a fan of buffets, but the lunch buffet was one of the better ones I’ve seen in the Maldives with a high quality of food. Back to Thila. The service is quite good, but some of the staff could need more training. I didn’t get what I ordered for breakfast, but then explained it to the restaurant manager and got just what I wanted.
As written earlier, Thila is the highest ranked restaurant in the whole of the Maldives and in my opinion it is well-deserved. Only a few places can compete with Thila, in a country where food is the most frustrating element. Lots of resorts focus more on cost saving than providing the best possible food for their guests. As the food is excellent as Thila, Kurumba would be one of the few Maldivian resorts I would consider to stay for more than a few days. I just can’t enjoy the Maldives fully if the food isn’t great and that is why Kurumba would be one of my choices if I go back and stay at one resort instead of the usual island hopping.
What About the Service: I found the service to be great overall. Like most other resorts, there is staff that need more training, but most of the staff are friendly and service-minded. I found Kurumba to have more of a corporate feel than most Maldivian resorts. It felt a bit like Conrad, and it might have something to do with the size of the resort and the management make more of an effort when it comes to the training of the staff.
What About My Room: My beautiful room had comfortable beds, indoor shower, outdoor rain shower, working desk, flat screen Tv and easy access to the beach. There are many different room categories for various kind of budgets.
Number of Rooms: 180.
Type of Property: Resort.
Facilities: Spa, gym, pool and business/meeting facilities that makes it the ideal resort for business travellers.
Complimentary Internet: Yes and with acceptable speed. I was able to make calls and watch videos.
My Overall Impression: Great experience. My second visit to Kurumba, and it’s even better than three years ago.
