La Frégate is one of Guernseys best and most expensive hotels, has only 22 rooms and it’s own character in this 18-th cencury manor house.
My experience started with warm welcome before being escorted to the room by the Dutch receptionist. I stayed in a standard room which was refurbishment in 2006 like the rest of the hotel. The rooms are contemporary including the bathrooms which have large bathtubs and a rainshower which unfortunately wasn’t separated from the tub. The room also had a separate sitting area with couch, a working desk and a flatscreen Tv. The highlight was the bed which was one of the best I’ve slept in and very soft. Another highlight was the balcony with beautiful sea- and town-views.
Food is important for La Frégate and their restaurant is highly regarded. I didn’t dine there, but had a truly great breakfast. I especially like the fact that they don’t have a buffet as the hotel is small, instead they have a great ala carte menu with frechly prepared dishes. There isn’t many facilities at La Frégate, but it’s surely a great experience for it’s rooms, personalized service and excellent breakfast.
My opinion: Great experience.
