Maafushivaru is a 5-star Maldivian resort located in the South Ari Atoll and managed by Universal Resorts which has a great collection of high quality Maldivian resorts.
My experience started with the seaplane and the arrival experience was very nice with a cold drink and towel before being escorted to the room.
I stayed in a Standard Beach Villa which was very nice, but without the usual Maldivian wow-factors. There was however L’Occitane products and both indoor and outdoor rainshower, flatscreen Tv, comfortable bed and a location a few steps from the beach. One of the unique features of Maafushivaru is a separate island with two rooms which guests can stay at for an extra charge. It could be a very unique experience, but I only stayed one night at the main island.
Their Japanese restaurant impressed me and was up to a high standard with fresh seafood and very good service. As the restaurant is very small, the service is very personalized. An advance booking is therefore required, but there was only four other guests in the restaurant that evening.
There are 50 rooms total at Maafushivaru and the size makes a difference. You don’t see too many people around as in the big resorts and the receptionist always have time for a chat. The staff is really good and the service the same. Some staff could need more training, but it’s like that almost everywhere. I find the value for money at Maafushivaru great, especially the all-inclusive packages can save you a lot compared to similar resorts in The Maldives.
My opinion: Great experience.
