I arrived in the hotel and had a nice welcome, but my room wasn’t ready yet so I went for a great lunch in their restaurant. The food was very reasonable priced for a great tasing menu and can be highly recommended. After the lunch my room was ready, but unfortunately no suite was available for me and I stayed in a Mandarin Back Bay Room. It had nice welcome amenities and a very nice contemporary design. Very similar to Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas.
The service was very good, but I had have expected more from a hotel that’s been voted one of 100 bests in the world. It’s overrated, but perhaps a top 500 hotel in the world. There is many great and better hotels than this one, although it’s the best in Boston. The facilities was nice, but I hated that the spa closes already at 7 PM and it’s the earliest I have seen in any hotel around the world. Should at least be open to 9 PM and is something that definitely needs to be improved. As XV Beacon, Mandarin Oriental also had complimentary car service to take you around the city and it’s a great experience as well.
Overall a hotel that is up to Mandarin Orientals standards. Much better than Manila, but far from Bangkok. I’m sure it’s the best in Boston and can be highly recommended as the hotel to select.
My opinion: Great experience.
