I arrived in the lobby and took their fast elevators to the 12 floor for check in where an upgrade was given because of my Platinum status of Starwood Preferred Guest.
I stayed in a Metropolitan Suite and it had the typical design you will find in the newer St. Regis. Very similar to my suite in St. Regis Mexico City. Comfortable bed, working desk, separate living room, free standing bathtub and separate shower. Everything you need. The thing St. Regis is lacking is always the missing local touches and you can easily forget where you are in the world. Some people love that and if you’re one of them then St. Regis is perfect for you.
As said earlier I consider Bangkok one of the world’s best hotel cities because of it’s high service standards. St. Regis opened in April, but already works in many areas. The have found lovely staff with the right attitude. The English level should be better in the key positions though, but if you have staff with the right attitude you can always train them over time. Platinum members of Starwood Preferrred Guest is treated very well in St. Regis Bangkok. Free breakfast, internet and 5 pieces of laundry. The internet was a succes and was very fast though my stay. It’s priced at 400 THB pr. 24 hours for others, but as always I believe it should be complimentary for everyone.
The food was a great experience. I normally don’t like buffets, but the breakfast had a large selection of food and very good service. I also had dinner in Jojo, their Italian restaurant and it was a pleasant experience as well. Their pasta and seabass was excellent and is highly recommended. The prices is very expensive for Bangkok, but that is what you would expect from a St. Regis hotel.
The facilities were fantastic as well and makes it the perfect business hotel in Bangkok. Their Elemis spa was furthermore one of the best with excellent facilities and service. I also had a 1 hour spa treatment and it was among the better ones I’ve had.
Overall a great St. Regis experience. In general I don’t like big hotels with nearly 300 rooms, but St. Regis Bangkok is one of the exceptions. It’s a beautiful new property with a great combination of modern and classic. Their service level was high as expected in Thailand and I can highly recommend this hotel. It’s definitely one of the top choices in Bangkok and the winner will all depend on your personal preference.
My opinion: Great+ experience.
