Although many Small Luxury Hotels of the World don’t have great food, there are exceptions. Around 50 of the 500 hotels in the collection now have a Michelin star. One of them is The Atlantic Hotel in Jersey where I just checked out after a great one night stay.
My experience started with a warm welcome from the reception which always is a very important first impression. I was right after escorted to the room. I stayed in an Ocean View Room which had a comfortable bed, working desk, separate sitting area and beautiful view of the ocean and the hotels swimming pool. The bathroom had a shower in the bathtub and Molton Brown products.
One would think The Atlantic Hotel would be a destination hotel only, but it also receives a great number of business travellers and has great meeting facilities. The hotel also has a health club called The Palm Club seven days a week from 07:30 to 19:30.
The beautiful location is certainly one of the things that make The Atlantic Hotel special, but for me, it was the high level of personalized service. The Atlantic Hotel only has 50 rooms, and it really makes a difference. The staff had a great attitude, and the service in their Michelin starred restaurant was professional. The Michelin star is well-deserved, and I had a better experience here than in many of the 2 star. For me, it’s all about having a Michelin star, many one stars could easily deserve another star, but it has a lot to do with the Michelin stars own criteria and taste.
The bottom line is that The Atlantic Hotel is a lovely place to stay, especially if you like high-quality gourmet food and personalised service.
My opinion: Great experience.
