My experience started with a welcome drink and check in at front desk before being escorted to the room. I stayed in a Deluxe Pavillion and while it had dated parts, it was very nice. It had outdoor and indoor shower, free standing bath tub, Tv in the bathroom, comfortable bed, complimentary minibar and finally a large private swimming pool. Huge villa with over 300 square metres. The bathroom products were local and very nice and there was six different kind og soaps to choice from.
I liked the villa, but it had a bad smell. The thing is that you can’t get a non smoking room. There is two ash trays when you enter the room. One on the working desk and even one in the bathroom. Never seen in any hotel before. The hotel manager told me all rooms allows smoking inside and he was very surprised I wasn’t aware this was standard in Bali. The other hotels told me I was in a non smoking room and I only saw ashtrays outside in their hotels and that is a big difference for me. Housekeeping made a major cleaning and the pavillion felt very comfortable after that.
What I loved about the Balé was the service level. Very high as in the other of Bali’s best hotels. Extremly helpful and friendly staff, all with the right attitude and it was wonderful to experience. All guests are offered a 30 minutes welcome massage and it was really great. One of the better massages I’ve had in Asia. The breakfast was really good and the German chef welcomes all the guests as a nice feature you can do in a hotel with only 27 rooms. The breakfast is only ala carte and it’s in my opinion the only right thing to do in a small hotel.
Overall a great resort experience in Bali. They are planning a renovation next year and that is only going to make The Balé even better.
My opinion: Great experience.
