After 1 night in Oberoi Lombok I returned to Bali where the hotel picked me up in the airport before arriving in the hotel. I was taken directly to their exclusive villa lobby where I recieved a warm welcome before the butler escorted me to the room.
I stayed in one of their only 10 pool villas and it was a great experience. It was huge and similar to the strand villa in St. Regis where I stayed last year. I saw a standard room during my site inspection and the experience in Laguna definitely have something to do with the room you stay in. The standard room was still nice, but nothing compared to the world class villa. The private swimming pool was very large and the size of the hotel pool in some hotels. Impressive as well as the large outdoor area and outdoor shower. It was like a private house. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a large freestanding bathtub which was excellent.
The service was good. It’s hard to find bad service in Bali, but most of the staff were well trained and delivered great service. There is only 10 villas in Laguna and they come with a butler which delivered personalized service, but that was the only person. The other staff simply can’t as Laguna is a big hotel with 271 rooms. Laguna reminded me a lot of Conrad Bali which is similar in size and amount of rooms.
The facilities included a nice spa with great facilities and also a few business facilities as this is one of the only places in Bali that can fit for business, especially because of it’s location close to the capital “Denpasar”. The food was very overpriced for what you get, but it’s often like that with chain hotels. The service in the restaurant could be better as well, but the value is great. Around 200 dollars pr. night in a standard room is great value for a Luxury Collection hotel, especially for families.
Overall a great Luxury Collection resort as you would expect in Bali. There is many choices in Bali for a memorable experience and Laguna is one of them. It depends if like staying in big hotels where personalized service is impossible, but if you can the value is great.
