The hotel is located close to the airport, but both journeys had a lot of traffic and took 30 minutes. I finally arrive in the hotel where the doorman welcomed me with a smile. He escorted me to the front desk where I was informed of an upgrade. As a Platinum member of Starwood Preferred Guest I received an upgrade to a great Junior Suite located on the 11th floor. It had the typical Westin design as the rest of the hotel and I was pleased to see this level in a country like Bangladesh. The world’s third poorest country.
What surprised me most about Westin Dhaka was the service level. It was great with lovely staff, but some areas could need a better English level. The facilities was as you would expect in a great business hotel. The ourdoor heated swimming pool was great and Westin Dhaka definitely deserves it’s great reviews. The Executive Lounge was very good and definitely up to Westin’s standards. The food was better than expected, but far from the other hotels in my project. It’s extremly overpriced, but they import great ingredients from overseas. The internet is complimentary and worked very well though my stay.
Overall a great business hotel. You don’t travel to Bangladesh to explore great hotels or sightseeing, but too experience the culture. It’s very interesting, but very poor. Do like me: Keep your expectations low and have a great time.
My opinion: Good experience.
